The fight was nip and tuck, with Saunders getting the nod on the judges’ scorecards via split decision. Eubank had suffered the first defeat of his career, despite being the pre-fight favourite with the best UK betting apps.

However, he bounced back in impressive fashion, winning his next eight fights. This includes picking up the WBA Interim World Middleweight Title and the British Middleweight Title, as well as the IBO World Super-Middleweight Title.

During that eight fight run, ‘Next Gen’ defeated some big names and quality fighters such as Dmitrii Chudinov, Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan, Nick Blackwell and Arthur Abraham to name but a few. Then came the second defeat of Eubank’s career, losing in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) to George Groves.

That was Eubank’s first shot at world honours, resulting in a unanimous decision defeat to the reigning world champion at 168-pounds. However, the Brighton man then bounced back once again, defeating the likes of former world champion and Olympic gold medallist James Degale, Matvey Korobov, JJ McDonagh and Liam Williams.
