Chris Billam Smith’s next fight looks like it could be announced anytime, with ‘The Gentleman’ rumoured to be facing fellow world champion Gilberto Ramirez in a cruiserweight unification before the end of the year.

According to various credible sources including FTTV Boxing, the Bournemouth man is set for a mammoth unification clash with fellow cruiserweight world champion ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez.

Chris Billam-Smith Next Fight: Gilberto Ramirez Unification Nearing Completion?

Just five months on from his last contest, Chris Billam-Smith could be back in action before the end of the year in his biggest fight to date. The WBO World Cruiserweight Champion was last in action back in June at Selhurst Park, where he was seen comprehensively outboxing Richard Riakporhe with ease in their all-British rematch.

That was the second defence of his world title, with many people now wanting Chris Billam-Smith’s next fight to be a unification. ‘The Gentleman’ has won three world title fights now, making two successful defences, so the time has come to target the other champions and try and add more belts to his collection.

The other champions at cruiserweight are Jai Opetaia (IBF & The Ring), Gilberto Ramirez (WBA) and Noel Mikaelian (WBC). Billam-Smith is adamant that he wants one of the fellow champions next, and it looks increasingly likely that his wish will be granted.

Several boxing outlets have hinted that Billam-Smith’s next fight is close to being confirmed, with an announcement imminent. The unification clash with Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez looks like it will be officially announced in due course, after negotiations are complete and terms are fully agreed.

Billam-Smith vs Ramirez Set For November?

It seems that Billam-Smith vs Ramirez could take place in November, with either Saudi Arabia or the USA the most likely destinations right now. Should it head to Saudi, it will of course be part of a huge Riyadh Season card. If it goes to America, it will likely headline a Golden Boy Promotions card – Ramirez’s promoters.

The Bournemouth man remains flexible on the location of the bout, emphasising that his number one priority is ensuring the unification clash is next. It looks like he’ll get his wish, as Billam-Smith’s next fight is close to being officially announced for November against Gilberto Ramirez once and for all.

The best UK betting sites could find it tricky to split the pair when it comes to picking a favourite, but both men will be confident of adding another belt to their collection. Ramirez has the pedigree, but Billam-Smith just keeps getting better and better.

Fingers crossed an official announcement is made imminently for Chris Billam-Smith’s next fight.
