Chelsea Conference League Squad

Chelsea star man Cole Palmer has been omitted from their UEFA Conference League squad for the upcoming league phase, with the Blues looking to manage the 22-year-old’s work load.

Enzo Maresca has confirmed his Chelsea squad for the UEFA Conference League league phase, and there is no place for star man Cole Palmer, as well as Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana.

The Blues, who are favourites to win the competition according to the best football betting sites, booked their place in the league phase thanks to a 3-2 aggregate victory over Servette in the play-off round, where they’ll face Gent, Panathinaikos, Noah, Heidenheim, Astana, and Shamrock Rovers in the new revamped competition.

Their league phase campaign gets underway at the start of October when they welcome Belgian side Gent to Stamford Bridge before heading to Greece to take on Panathinaikos on matchday two three weeks later.

Chelsea’s decision to not include the likes of Palmer, Lavia, and Fofana in the squad was reportedly made due to load management, as they have the potential to be active in five different competitions this season, including the expanded Club World Cup in the United States next summer.

Also missing out is Ben Chilwell, who has been frozen out of Maresca’s squad. The Argentine boss informed the defender that he has no future at the club, and despite being linked with a move away, he was unable to secure an exit.

The Blues’ squad includes two lists, ‘Player List A’ and ‘Player List B’, with the main bulk of players included in the first list, while homegrown talents such as Levi Colwill, Josh Acheampong, Kiano Dyer, Tyrique George, Harrison McMahon, and Max Merrick are on the second list.
