Brazilian forward Evanilson scored his first goal for Bournemouth on Monday night, as the Cherries flattened Southampton on the South coast with a dominant performance.

Bournemouth Breeze Past Southampton

It was all too easy for Bournemouth against their South coast rivals on Monday night, as the hosts cruised to a 3-1 win after a convincing first half carried them to all three points.

The visitors came out firing in the opening exchanges and although they struggled to create anything in the box, Southampton were able to test Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal with a couple of long range strikes.

The first 10 minutes was about as good as it got for Southampton though, as despite their good start, it was Bournemouth who took the lead early on courtesy of a free kick taken quickly.

Marcus Tavernier opted to lob a free kick over the defence from just outside the box and Evanilson was on hand with a quick reaction to expertly dispatch his first goal for Bournemouth, with a confident volley giving the home fans plenty to shout about.

The hosts didn’t stop pressing forward after their first finish of the game, with Dango Ouattara netting a second for Bournemouth shortly after their first as Lewis Cook’s deflected strike smashed off the forward and past Aaron Ramsdale for a 2-0 advantage.

A dominant first half from Bournemouth was capped off by their Ghanaian winger right before the break, as Antoine Semenyo weaved his way through the Saints defence to fire home a third for Bournemouth on his 50th Premier League appearance for the club.

Southampton made three changes after half time, bringing on Ben Brereton Diaz, Joe Aribo and Ross Stewart in the hopes of a big turnaround in the second half.

The Saints kicked off the second half in a similar manor to the first but this time they were able to pull a goal back, with a Taylor Harwood-Bellis header keeping the game alive for Southampton.

However neither side could find a fifth goal in the contest during a fairly even second half and Bournemouth took home all three points in after a convincing display.
