Az From FPL Blackbox Reveals His Top Three Leftfield Picks Ahead Of Gameweek 5
I’m Az from FPL Blackbox and welcome back to my series on SportsCasting, and we’re back with another set of Fantasy Premier League tips ahead of Gameweek 5.
With a best overall finish of 817th in the 2017/18 season, I have been imparting my knowledge in regards to all thing Fantasy Football ever since.
Az From FPL Blackbox Tips: My Leftfield Player Picks For Gameweek 5
Hopefully everyone reading this was on the right side of the FPL gods in Gameweek 4. It was a polarizing week for Fantasy managers. Owners of Haaland, Watkins, Gabriel and/or Mateta were probably feeling pretty smug when the dust settled, but others were probably feeling a bit bruised.
But it’s a new Gameweek and it’s off the back of a testing week of both Champions League and Cup matches for many of our popular assets. So, who are some of the more leftfield options for GW5?
Dominic Solanke (£7.5m, 7% ownership)
I was really impressed with Solanke for Spurs, despite the loss in the North London derby. He held the line well, had a couple of decent chances and even managed 90 minutes despite missing the last 2 Gameweeks with injury.
Next up is Brentford and the fixture saw 9 goals scored across both games last year. With Son and Maddison both looking a bit off the pace, Spurs will be relying on Solanke to start chipping in with the goals and I’m backing him to get his first one this week.
Sugawara Yukinari (£4.5m, 0.3 ownership%)
Southampton have conceded 6 goals in their last 2 games, but I’ve been very impressed with their marauding full back Sugawara. A signing from the excellently named AZ, he managed 10 goals in 119 appearances and already has a goal for the Japanese national team. His xGI of 1.04 is the highest of all Southampton players so far this season and this is a massive game for the Saints against a team who will likely be joining them in a relegation battle this season.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.9m, 2.8 ownership%)
I did not think I would be writing about DCL as a good FPL option for us this season – especially after Everton’s poor start to the season where they have lost all 4 games, conceding 13 goals in the process.
But it doesn’t matter how many goals Everton conceded if Calvert-Lewin can keep scoring. It’s been two dominant displays by Everton in the early stages of their last two games, before eventually surrendering wins despite being 2-0 up.
No player has created more chances in the league than Dwight McNeil, and Calvert-Lewin looks to be benefitting from this service, as well as looking sharp and hungry himself.
It’s a wonderful run of fixtures for DCL too. You have to go right down to Gameweek 15 until they play someone from the top 6, with games against newly promoted Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton in the next 6 games. Now’s the time to invest!
