Arsenal Shakhtar Declan Rice

Declan Rice is worth more than the entire Shakhtar Donetsk midfield as Arsenal welcome the Ukrainian side in the Champions League.

The Gunners will continue their UCL campaign with a visit from Shakhtar in GW3 of the European competition, as Mikel Arteta looks to bounce back from the disappointing result against Bournemouth.

Star defender, William Saliba, will be available for the clash as his red card against the Cherries on Saturday evening will not carry over to the European clash.

Despite a poor result in the league, Arsenal have shown huge promise in the Champions League, drawing to Atalanta and beating PSG in GW2.

Bukayo Saka was absent from the 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth and his chances of returning to the squad on Tuesday are still slim.

Club captain, Martin Odegaard, has been absent for just under 2 months and is not expected to play any part against Shakhtar Donetsk.

As for the Ukrainian side, finding precious points in the Champions League has been a difficult task so far – drawing to Bologna and losing to Atalanta last time out.

Their form in the Ukrainian Premier League has also been inconsistent, picking up just 19 points from the opening nine games and sitting six points behind first place.

However, Shakhtar have lost just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, which came in the previously mentioned 3-0 defeat to Atalanta and the European giants are coming off two straight victories.

Looking ahead to the Arsenal vs Shakhtar Donetsk clash, we analysed the squad value of each side and it highlighted a huge advantage for Arteta’s men.

A major standout was the comparison between Arsenal star, Declan Rice and the entire Shakhtar Donetsk midfield, as the Englishman is worth more than Shakhtar’s midfield combined.
