Anthony Gordon faces his former side Everton on Saturday and the Newcastle player has scored just one goal at Goodison Park in his last 15 attempts.

In January 2023, the England international swapped Merseyside for Tyneside, as he left his boyhood club Everton to join Newcastle for around £45 million.

Since then, Gordon has become a household name at St James’ Park, helping the Toon qualify for the Champions League and cementing his place in the England squad.

During his time at Everton, the 23-year-old contributed to 15 goals in 78 appearances, which is far worse than his record at Newcastle – 26 goal contributions in 72 games.

His recent form has been spectacular, being involved in 13 goals in the Premier League during 2024 (7G + 6A).

However, one stat that stands out in the lead-up to Newcastle’s trip to Goodison Park is Gordon’s record at the iconic stadium.

In his last 15 appearances at Goodison Park, Gordon has contributed to a single goal – with two of these appearances coming in a Newcastle strip.

In the 2022/23 season, just a few months after joining the Toon from the Toffee’s, Gordon came on for the final three minutes at Goodison Park in a 4-1 victory.

Then, in GW15 of the 2023/24 season, Newcastle were beaten 3-0 at Goodison Park and Gordon failed to make an impact despite playing the full 90 minutes.

You have to go back to October 2022 to find his last goal at Goodison Park, as the winger scored in Everton’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Gordon has received an extremely hostile response during his returns to Goodison Park but Eddie Howe expects the winger to find it easier as time goes on.

Howe said (Via Newcastle Press Conference): “I think with each time [returning to Everton] it will get slightly easier for Anthony. But it will be emotional, he’s human, and I think there will be lots of things going through him as he plays the game.

“But I think as long as he focuses on himself – and I think he was excellent last week as he led the line with a really important performance because you need your focal point to deliver certain aspects to help the team – so all I ask is he does that again.”
