The latest Andy Roddick news has confirmed that the former tennis star is set to feature in a new comedy film.

Roddick will team up with producer Ben Stiller for the pickleball comedy flick called ‘The Dink.’ The duo are expected to star in supporting roles.

Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen and Ed Harris will also feature alongside Roddick and Stiller. The 2003 US Open champion is actually no stranger to acting.

Andy Roddick News Confirms Comedy Movie Role

In 2011, Roddick starred alongside his wife Brooklyn Decker in comedy hit ‘Just Go With It.’ The film also featured Hollywood A-listers Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.

Nine years previous, he played himself in an episode of ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch.‘ Roddick has also hosted an episode of ‘Saturday Night Live.’

Therefore, Roddick is sure to be ace in his new role alongside Stiller. His big screen debut is set to be a huge hit amongst fans. Who knows, it may lead to more roles in the future.

The fact that Pickleball is going to Hollywood speaks volumes of how popular the sport has become. Furthermore, Ben Stiller is not stranger to sports films. In 2004, he starred in ‘Dodgeball’ alongside Vince Vaughn.

However, utilising a former World No 1 tennis star to enhance Pickleball’s reach across the globe could work wonders. Stiller essentially did the same with Dodgeball.

According to Variety, ‘The Dink’ will see Jake Johnson (“New Girl”) play a “washed-up tennis pro who is trying to save a club in crisis and win his father’s respect. But in the process, he’s forced to break a solemn vow and do the one thing he swore he’d never do: play pickleball.”

Stiller is set to produce the film via his company Red Hour Films. Josh Greenbaum will direct and filming is set to begin in November.
