Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has made his predictions for UFC 306, and the Auzzie is giving Merab Dvalishvili the edge against Sean O’Malley in the card’s main event.
Volkanovski Predicts Dvalishvili to Beat O’Malley At UFC 306
The bout between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley, set to take place at The Sphere in Las Vegas, is being considered one of the most exciting fights of the year.
O’Malley, the reigning UFC bantamweight champion, is looking to solidify his status as one of the promotion’s biggest stars, while Dvalishvili, known for his relentless pace and grappling skills, aims to capture the title.
Volkanovski, a former two-time featherweight champion, believes that Dvalishvili’s relentless pressure will ultimately be the deciding factor in the fight.
“I think he’s gonna eventually get the takedown that he will inevitably be looking for,” Volkanovski said in a video on his YouTube channel. “I don’t care how good your footwork is; you’re not gonna keep Merab away from you unless you put his lights out.”
While O’Malley has earned a reputation for his striking ability, Volkanovski believes that Dvalishvili’s cardio and takedown attempts will eventually wear him down.
“I think Sean O’Malley’s eye is incredible; his movements gonna make it a little bit hard, but his relentless takedown pressure or his pressure on takedowns, I think he’s gonna eventually get it unless he gets knocked out,” Volkanovski explained.
Despite his prediction for Dvalishvili, Volkanovski acknowledged that O’Malley possesses the knockout power to end the fight at any moment.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see O’Malley pull off another viral knockout,” he said.

Volkanovski’s UFC 306 Predictions: Ortega vs Rodriguez
In addition to his prediction for the main event, Volkanovski also offered his thoughts on the co-main event between Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez.
He believes that Ortega will emerge victorious, stating, “I think Brian Ortega’s gonna get the job done.”
