Milan Liverpool Highlights

Watch the highlights as Liverpool bounce back from their defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League over the weekend with a convincing win over AC Milan in their opening Champions League fixture of the campaign.

Arne Slot and his Liverpool side headed to the San Siro with intentions of bouncing back from their disappointing loss against Nottingham Forest last Saturday, and they did exactly that, coming from behind to beat AC Milan 3-1 in their Champions League opener.

It wasn’t the start that Reds fans would’ve hoped for however, as former Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic smashed home the opener past Alisson to hand the home side the advantage after just three minutes.

That lead lasted only 20 minutes though, with Ibrahima Konate powerfully heading home the leveller from none other than Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick. Less than 20 minutes later, Virgil van Dijk completed the turnaround for Liverpool, heading in from Konstantinos Tsimikas’ corner.

The Reds continued their dominance when they returned from the break, creating chance after chance, and they were rewarded with a third goal on the 67-minute mark. Some nice work from Cody Gakpo down the left side enabled the Dutchman to find Dominik Szoboszlai in the middle, who effortlessly turned the ball into a largely empty goal.

I Rossoneri had a few late sighters on goal, but the likes of Van Dijk and Konate threw their bodies on the line, ensuring that Slot’s side maintained their two goal lead, while also securing a crucial three points in the process.

Liverpool’s victory over Milan marks a perfect start to their Champions League campaign, putting them in a strong position heading into their next fixture at the start of October against another Serie A side in Bologna.

Following that tie, spanning all the way until the end of January, the Reds will face RB Leipzig, Girona and PSV away from home, and Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid and Lille in their remaining league phase fixtures.

Up next though, it’s back to Premier League action as they welcome Bournemouth to Merseyside. Despite defeat to Forest last weekend, the Reds are clear favourites with the UK’s best football betting sites for this one, with bookmakers pricing them at around 3/10 to win the match.
