US Open Prize Money

The highly coveted US Open has a record-breaking $75 million on offer this year, with the world’s leading tennis stars looking to secure their chunk of the prize money in New York.

This year’s US Open will offer the largest purse in tennis history in early September, with $75 million (£57.8m) up for grabs across the men’s and women’s singles tournaments, the men’s and women’s doubles tournaments, as well as the mixed doubles tournament.

Contested at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City, the prize money on offer has increased on last year’s total, with $65 million being handed out at the 2023 edition of the Grand Slam event.

Novak Djokovic won the men’s singles tournament in that one, defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final to win his fourth US Open title, while youngster Coco Gauff beat Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s singles final to win her first ever major title.

In terms of the doubles competitions at the 2023 US Open, the United States’ Rajeev Ram and Britain’s Joe Salisbury won the men’s doubles, Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe won the women’s doubles, and Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina and Finland’s Harri Heliövaara won the mixed doubles.

All of those named above, as well as the countless other global superstars competing at the event, will be hoping to secure their chunk of the staggering $75 million total, with increases in prize money across the board for those who suffer early exits as well as those who make deep runs into the tournament.

A first-round exit in both the men’s and the women’s singles events will earn players $100,000 (£75,000), which is a 72% increase from the $58,000 (£45,000) that was on offer five years ago.

Advancing to the second round will add a further $40,000 to their share of the prize money, but by reaching this year’s semi-finals, contestants will be guaranteed a minimum of $1,000,000 (£765,000).

The losing finalists in this year’s singles events will earn a whopping $1,800,000 (£1,375,000), while the winner will take home a stunning $3,600,000 (£2,750,000).
