Watch the highlights as Arsenal ease into the Carabao Cup fourth round, with impressive young midfielder Ethan Nwaneri netting a brace in the 5-1 win over League One outfit Bolton at the Emirates.
A heavily rotated Arsenal welcomed League One side Bolton to the Emirates on Wednesday evening, and the young Gunners came up trumps, comfortably winning 5-1 to book their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
There were starts for Myles Lewis-Skelly, Josh Nichols and Ethan Nwaneri, and with David Raya missing out due to a thigh injury, 16-year-old Jack Porter started between the sticks for Mikel Arteta’s side, becoming the youngest-ever player to be named in an Arsenal starting XI in the process.
It took just 16 minutes for the Premier League high-flyers to open the scoring, with Declan Rice turning in from young Nichols’ cross. 20 minutes later, Nwaneri got in on the act, sweeping home his side’s second from Raheem Sterling’s cross.
Having netted his first-ever goal for the Gunners prior to the half-time whistle, Nwaneri found his second just four minutes into the second period. The young midfielder pounced on a poor Bolton pass and smashed in a third for the hosts despite the visiting goalkeeper getting a hand to his effort.
Welsh forward Aaron Collins pulled one back for Bolton in the 53rd minute, but any lingering doubts over the result were soon put to bed as Sterling netted a fourth for Arteta’s side before Kai Havertz netted the fifth to complete the 5-1 rout.

Victory for Arsenal sees them comfortably advance to the Carabao Cup fourth round, where they’ll face Championship side Preston North End at Deepdale towards the end of October.
Up next for the Gunners is a return to Premier League action as they host newly promoted Leicester City at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon. The following Tuesday, they return to Europe for a Champions League clash against PSG.
As for Bolton, they face another couple of away trips in League One up next, as they head to Crawley on Saturday before travelling to Northampton on Tuesday.
