Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son has revealed that he has not yet held talks with the club over a new contract, despite his current deal coming to an end next summer.

Heung-min Son has confirmed that he has not held talks with Tottenham over a new contract, insisting that his entire focus is on winning a trophy for the club, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

It has been reported, though, that Spurs have an option to extend Son’s current contract for another year. If that clause is activated, which reports claim that the club intend to do, it would take him into his 11th season in north London since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £22 million back in 2015.

32-year-old Son is currently the club captain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, stepping up to the role since the departures of Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane, and he has two goals and two assists in five Premier League appearances thus far this term.

He revealed the latest in terms of contract talks in his pre-match press conference ahead of Spurs’ Europa League league phase opener against Azerbaijani side Qarabag, to be played on Thursday evening.

Son Reveals He Has Not Held New Contract Talks With Tottenham

When asked by inquisitive reporters about the potential of a new contract, the South Korea international responded: “We haven’t talked about anything yet.

“It is very clear from me. I am very focused on this season. At this age, every second is like a goal, especially this season, we are in a lot of competitions. It feels like I am taking even more care about this.

“As I say, I am fully focused on this year and just want to win something that everybody at the club – the players, all around – deserves. That’s what I’m working for.

“In the future, you never know what will happen, but I will give everything for this club because it’s been almost 10 years and I give everything.

“I still have a contract with the club, which is the very important thing. I just want to give everything while I have my contract.”

Son’s dream of finally winning silverware with Tottenham may finally come true this year, with some of the UK’s best football betting sites pricing Ange Postecoglou’s side as favourites to win the Europa League, while they are also heavily favoured at 1/6 to defeat Qarabag on Thursday evening.
