Saul Canelo Alvarez - Canelo Next Fight

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s next fight is being rumoured for Cinco de Mayo weekend in 2025, with three potential opponents being lined up for the pound-for-pound boxing star. So, who will Canelo’s next fight be against, when and where will it take place?

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez Next Fight: Dmitry Bivol Rematch On Cinco De Mayo Weekend?

Although the dust has barely even settled on his last fight against Edgar Berlanga, boxing fans are already talking about Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez‘s next fight and who they want to see the great Mexican in the ring with next.

‘Canelo’ is the reigning WBC, WBA-Super and WBO World Super-Middleweight Champion, as well as being a pound-for-pound boxing great. His last fight saw him defeat Berlanga with ease via unanimous decision, with Canelo’s next fight rumoured to take place in early 2025 or even Cinco De Mayo weekend.

The man standing opposite the 34-year-old for his next fight remains to be seen, but it is likely the bout will take place in the US, Mexico or perhaps even Saudi Arabia. The most likely opponent standing in the opposite corner of ‘Canelo‘ is former foe Dmitry Bivol.

Bivol of course has to beat Artur Beterbiev on October 12th in their undisputed light-heavyweight fight, and if he does the ‘Canelo’ rematch seems likely. Bivol won the first fight with relative ease, but the Mexican will want a chance to right the wrong of the first fight before he hangs up his gloves.

Thus, if Canelo Alvarez’s next fight is against Bivol, he will likely go into it as a slight underdog with the best UK betting sites given he lost the first fight back in 2022. This is quite something, given that ‘Canelo’ has never once been the underdog in any of his 66 previous professional fights.

Time will tell what happens and how the story unfolds, but ‘Canelo’ most definitely has options as he embarks on the 21st year of his professional boxing career.

Could Canelo’s Next Fight Be Against Terence Crawford or David Benavidez?

It looks like the Dmitry Bivol rematch is the most likely fight for ‘Canelo’ next if the Russian beats Artur Beterbiev, with either Saudi Arabia or the US the likely destinations. However, if this isn’t the case, names such as Terence Crawford and David Benavidez have been thrown about as potential opponents for Canelo Alvarez‘s next fight instead.

Depending on whether or not His Excellency Turki Alalshikh gets involved with the Mexican or not, could play a major part in who ‘Canelo’ fights next. Despite being far lighter and smaller, Terence Crawford has expressed his desire in fighting the great Mexican before the end of his career.

Should this fight happen, it would without a doubt be one of the biggest fights in boxing history. The Saudi’s are the only people who could possibly put the colossal money up for this fight, which is why it could be a possibility despite the current weight difference being a major factor.

The best boxing betting sites in the UK would favour ‘Canelo’ to defeat Crawford, given the sheer size difference. However, ‘Bud’ would fancy his chances of beating ‘Canelo’ if given the opportunity of sharing a ring with him.

Another potential fight could be against the undefeated David Benavidez. Many boxing fans believe that ‘Canelo’ is ducking Benavidez, but it is a fight that makes total sense and could be totally feasible for Canelo Alvarez’s next fight.

Not to mention the fact that Saudi boxing chief, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, has spoken of his desire to launch a Boxing Super League, and ‘Canelo’ would be the perfect man to fight in it given his worldwide star power.

Fingers crossed an official announcement is made in the next few months for Canelo’s next fight.
