The Anthony Joshua retirement rumours have been quashed by the 34-year-old after his brutal loss to Daniel Dubois on September 21.

Joshua was floored four times before suffering a devastating knockout defeat in the fifth-round in front of a British-record 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

After Dubois dropped him with a powerful right-hander, Joshua was unable to return to his feet and missed out on the chance to become a three-time world champion.

Despite being battered and beaten, Joshua failed to acknowledge it was time to call it a day. Instead, he insisted he will continue to fight and won’t hang up his gloves anytime soon.

Anthony Joshua Retirement Talk Doesn’t Phase British Star

Shortly after the loss to Daniel Dubois, the Anthony Joshua retirement rumours were rife all over social media platforms.

However, Joshua insists that this wouldn’t be his last bout. In fact, he wouldn’t entertain any talk of throwing the towel in on his glittering career.

Before I came here, I’m always saying to myself, ‘I’m a fighter for life.’ We rolled the dice at success and we came up short and we roll it again. We keep rolling the dice,” he said post-fight.

Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn is expecting Joshua to reactivate the rematch clause against Dubois. No dates have been mentioned yet. Realistically, it’ll most likely be pencilled in for the spring or summer of 2025.

Joshua now knows exactly what to expect from Dubois. If and when the rematch does actually go ahead. The 34-year-old also said that he was frustrated with the outcome but respected his opponent.

As p***ed off as I am, it is what it is. I had a sharp, fast opponent and there were a lot of mistakes from me. Credit to my opponent and his team.

We rolled the dice and came up short. You know I’m p***ed but I’m going to keep cool and give respect to my opponent,” he said.
