Big Man Bakar’s Best FPL Gameweek 5 Differentials

For the context of this article, a ‘differential’ is a considered to be a player owned by roughly 15% or less of FPL managers.

Dominic Solanke (Ownership: 7.0%, Price: £7.5m)

For those planning a Wildcard in Gameweek 6 or looking for a short-term replacement for Isak, Solanke, owned by just 7%, is an exciting differential to own.

Not long ago, Solanke was a very popular pick in the FPL community. An injury put rest to his early season’s exploits, but now he’s back on the grass again.

Spurs have a good run of fixtures coming up – including a favourable home fixture against Brentford this week.

Solanke’s only started two games so far but it’s encouraging to see that he’s played 90 minutes in both and put up decent underlying data in the time he’s been on the pitch. I believe there is an outside chance that he is on penalties as well.

According to UK bookmakers, he is only behind Salah and Haaland to score anytime this week.

Dominic Calvert Lewin (Ownership: 3.1%, Price: £5.9m)

If budget constraints are an issue, then Calvert Lewin is probably the next best alternative to Solanke.

For those looking to find funds for Saka to Salah funded by a Isak downgrade, he fits the bill perfectly. Calvert Lewin’s fitness has always been the main concern but as long as he remains fit, the fixtures are good enough to justify his selection.

He’s only behind two other forwards for goal involvements this season and also has the security of penalties in his locker when he’s on the field.

Leicester City, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Ipswich Town, Fulham and Southampton – that’s Everton’s fixture list for the next six weeks. Points are there for the taking.

Jamie Vardy (Ownership: 8.8%, Price: £5.7m)

I’ve opted for a trio of forwards in my piece this week – with Vardy completing the selection.

I had my reservations regarding his minutes at the start of the season but his performances so far have been good enough for him to keep his place in the short term.

Given his price and fixtures, he is viable to own – especially for those looking to own him as an eighth attacker. The entry point this week is great as well – as Everton are one of the worst teams for xG conceded so far.

Like Calvert Lewin, Vardy is also on penalties. He’s slightly cheaper than Calvert Lewin though, and is easier to get to if funds are an issue.
