Jadon Sancho Chelsea Transfer News

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed some exciting deadline-day Chelsea transfer news, with the Blues making an official bid for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

The Blues have been looking at options out wide for much of the summer window, after new manager Enzo Maresca confirmed Raheem Sterling ‘will not get any minutes’ if he stays at the club.

With Sterling not part of Maresca’s plans, it seems another England international may be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Sancho, 24, joined Manchester United in 2021 for a £73 million fee, but failed to impress at Old Trafford.

Following a fallout with Red Devils manager Eric Ten Hag, he returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan last season.

Now staring at the exit door once more, Sancho’s next club may be closer to home. Having grown up in London, a move back to the capital could be what the struggling star needs to reignite his career.

Sancho scored just 12 goals in 83 appearances for Manchester United, having notched 53 goals and 67 assists in 158 games at Dortmund.

The former Manchester City academy graduate was part of England U17 World Cup triumph in 2017, and in 2019 won the Bundesliga’s best young player award.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have now come in for Sancho, making an official bid.

The deal would be a loan at first, with an option for a permanent move.

This follows stalled negotiations with Italian giants Juventus, who had looked set to land the winger at one stage.

While Juventus remain interested, there appear to be complications surrounding any potential deal.

Romano explained: “At the moment, Juventus are in total standby for Sancho and feel a deal for the player will be very difficult for them.

“Chelsea are keeping contacts active. They want to include at least one player, ideally Raheem Sterling. I can tell you that Chelsea spoke again to the agents of the player today.”
