In a post-match interview with Nick Kyrgios, Djokovic expressed his disappointment in the abrupt end to the match but acknowledged Djere’s recent struggles with injuries.

“It’s not what we want or what the crowd wants, to see a walkover,” Djokovic said. “He (Djere) had an injury that took him off the tour for some time and he is struggling to come back physically to his level.”

With his 90th US Open win, Djokovic solidified his place among the greatest tennis players of all time. He has now recorded at least 90 match victories at all four Grand Slam events, a feat unmatched by any other player in history.

Djokovic’s impressive win record at the US Open has contributed significantly to his overall Grand Slam dominance. He has now won 377 matches at the four major tournaments, giving him an astonishing win percentage of 88.3%.

As Djokovic continues his quest for a fifth US Open title, he remains a strong contender for the championship. He will face Alexei Popyrin in the next round on Friday.
