Mikel Merino FPL Price

Arsenal new boy Mikel Merino has officially been added to FPL, with his fantasy price now revealed.

Mikel Merino FPL Price Revealed

The 28-year-old joins Arsenal on a four-year deal from Real Sociedad, with the Gunners paying an initial fee of £27.4m plus £4.2m in potential add-ons.

Merino’s FPL price has been set at £6.0m, which makes him an affordable midfield option for fantasy managers.

For comparison, other players given the same value on FPL include Newcastle’s Joelinton, and West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta.

Arsenal’s top talents, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, cost £10.0m and £8.5m respectively.

Mikel Merino FPL Price Represents Good Value

Part of Spain’s victorious Euro 2024 squad, Merino played a part in all seven matches, scoring the extra-time winner against Germany in the quarter-finals.

He scored eight goals in 45 total appearances for Sociedad last season, a strong return from an often deep-lying midfielder.

And it’s his ability on both sides of the ball which has got people’s attention.

Expected to link up with Declan Rice in midfield, Merino has already played alongside captain Martin Odegaard, who spent a year at Sociedad in 2019/20 on loan from Real Madrid.

Manager Mikel Arteta was thrilled with the signing, telling BBC Sport: “Mikel will make our squad significantly stronger, with his technical ability, together with his strong and positive character and personality,

“As we all saw in the summer, Mikel is also a winner, with his strong performances throughout the Euros helping Spain win the tournament.”

A Premier League Return For Merino

Although he has spent the last six years in La Liga with Real Sociedad, Mikel Merino is no stranger to the Premier League.

He spent a season with Newcastle United in 2017/18, playing under Rafa Benitez.

The Spaniard made 25 total appearances for the Magpies, notching a goal and an assist before joining Sociedad in 2018.

Now swapping the North East for North London, Merino becomes the third new arrival of the summer window for Arsenal.

Alongside the signing of Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal have also completed the permanent acquisition of goalkeeper David Raya, activating an option to buy following his loan move from Brentford last season.
