Beverley Races

Saturday’s Listed Beverley Bullet 2024 Sprint Stakes is the tracks feature contest each season and being run over their flying five furlong track, then blink and you’ll miss it.

There are just seven runners heading to post for this year’s renewal of the Beverley Bullet, but it’s still a very competitive horse racing contest with cases to be made for them all.

The good news is Andy Newton is on-hand with his key big race trends – which you can use to whittle down the runners and find the best profiles based on past winners.

Look For Horses Aged 5 Or Older

We saw a 3 year-old win the Beverley Bullet in 2023 – however, Kerdos was the first horse of this age to take the prize since 2010.

The trends tell us that overall, it’s been the older horses aged 5+ that have the best record in this Listed sprint – winning 90% of the last 10 renewals.

Taking this into account for this year’s runners means the two 3 year-olds in the race – Blue Storm and Staincliff – have this Beverley Bullet stat to overcome.

Low Draws Often Favoured Over 5f At Beverley

With the 5f course at Beverley on the turn, then having a low starting draw is often an advantage.

This was backed up again in 2023 when Kerdos won from stall 1 – while 6 of the last 10 winners also hailed from berths 1-4.

The lower-drawn Beverley Bullet runners in 2024 are – Blue Storm (1), Staincliff (2), Democracy Dilemma (3) and Commanche Falls (4).

Respect Horses That Raced At Goodwood, York and Ascot Last Time

Next up is to quickly look back at past form as a massive 10 of the last 13 (77%) winners raced at Ascot, Goodwood or York last time out.

To save you time we’ve looked for you – those that fit the bill this year are – Clarendon House (York), Democracy Dilemma (York), Blue Storm (Ascot), Commanche Falls (York) and Albasheer (York),

Previous Track Form A Positive

Having previous experience of the Beverley track is another plus to look for – with 8 of the last 13 winners ticking this stat.

The Robert Cowell runner Clarendon House is the only proven course winner in the field, while ALL of the other six runners are making their Beverley track debuts.

Which Horses Tick The Most Beverley Bullet Trends?

I’m happy to rule out the two 3 year-olds – Blue Storm and Staincliff – based on 9 of the last 10 winners being aged 4+.

Emaraaty Ana falls down on not having raced at York, Goodwood or Ascot last time too – which leaves us with Clarendon House, Democracy Dilemma, Commanche Falls and the Hollie Doyle-ridden Albasheer.

Of that bunch, I’d be a tad worried about Commanche Falls dropping back to 6f with all bar one of his 41 career runs coming over 6f+.

Albasheer probably has a bit to prove at this level, with her recent wins coming in handicaps – which then leaves is DEMOCRACY DILEMMA and the only course winner CLARENDON HOUSE and the best-fitting trends horses.

The last name was in deep water last time in the G1 Nunthorpe but will find things a lot calmer here back into Listed grade.
