New Wales boss Craig Bellamy has unveiled his first 24-man squad ahead of the Dragons’ Nations League fixtures against Turkey and Montenegro in September.

A new era begins for Wales under the stewardship of Craig Bellamy next month, as the Dragons kickstart their Nations League campaign with fixtures against Turkey in Cardiff and Montenegro in Nikšić.

Wales’ last pair of matches, a 0-0 draw against Gibraltar and a 4-0 defeat to Slovakia, marked the end of Rob Page’s tenure as manager, less than three months after they failed to qualify for the 2024 European Championship.

Page’s side finished third in their European Championship qualifying group behind Turkey and Croatia and suffered a crushing penalty shootout defeat against Poland in the final of their Euro 2024 qualifying play-off path.

But now, the Red Wall will aim to put that disappointment behind them, with Bellamy naming his first-ever Welsh squad ahead of September’s fixtures against Turkey and Montenegro.

The ex-Liverpool and Manchester City forward has named a 24-man squad, confirming that Cardiff midfielder Aaron Ramsey will retain the captain’s armband, while he has also handed Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow his maiden international call-up.

There are also numerous returning faces, with Liverpool‘s Blackburn Rovers loanee Owen Beck, Swansea’s Ollie Cooper, Nantes’ Sorba Thomas, and Oxford United striker Mark Harris being named among the 24 after missing out on the previous squad.

Mainstays Danny Ward, Ben Davies, Joe Rodon, Neco Williams, Jordan James, Ethan Ampadu, Kieffer Moore, Dan James, Brennan Johnson, and Harry Wilson are all involved, along with 18-year-old Liverpool starlet Lewis Koumas, son of former Wales international Jason Koumas.
