David de Gea’s Fiorentina debut has been defended by Manchester United fans. The former Red Devils goalkeeper shipped three goals in a UEFA Conference League playoff on August 22.

The Spaniard was playing his professional game since the 2023 FA Cup final – which was over 440 days ago. His first game since didn’t go to plan, but United supporters stood firm for their hero on X, formerly Twitter.

Manchester United fans showed their support for the two-time Premier League Golden Glove winner. One wrote on X: “If there’s any ex-player who deserves the unconditional support of Man United fans… It’s David De Gea.

“The man gave EVERYTHING he had for us and was once the best goalkeeper in the world while wearing our shirt. Respect him.”

Another claimed: “I will never hate on David De Gea, ever in my life.” Simultaneously, a third user posted: “He stuck by us through our worst days, and was genuinely OUT OF THIS WORLD…”
