Andrew heads to the jumps meeting at Newton Abbot and the Racing League AW action at Newcastle for his three stats-based selections on Thursday, August 22nd…

NEWTON ABBOT 3.55

FRINGILL DIKE (system – Jedd O’Keeffe long travellers)

Since the beginning of 2018, North Yorkshire-based Jedd O’Keeffe is three from 13 with horses travelling more than 250 miles to the track and backing them all would have returned a profit of £20.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. FRINGILL DIKE will appreciate the return to fences after finishing well beaten in a hot Class 2 handicap at Market Rasen last time and makes the long trip to Devon.

NEWTON ABBOT 5.30

LEAGUE CLASH (system – Robbie Llewellyn, stable switchers in handicaps, tongue-tied)

Robbie Llewellyn has made a good start to his training career, and he often does well at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other trainers, especially the handicappers who were fitted with a tongue-tie. Three of the ten qualifiers won for a profit of £13.25 and LEAGUE CLASH, ex-Sheila Lewis, could be worth chancing in this handicap hurdle.

NEWCASTLE 7.45

AL RUFAA (system – Kublers, long travellers)

Daniel and Claire Kubler have a solid record with horses travelling more than 250 miles to the track, landing 18 of their 84 starts (21,4%) for a profit of £64.92 to a £1 level stake at SP. AL RUFAA was short-headed at Kempton last time on his return to the all-weather and Tapeta figures of 2132 (1-4) suggest that the switch from Polytrack won’t inconvenience him.
