Aston Villa Let Lead Slip As Evanilson Snatches Late Point For Bournemouth At Villa Park
Brazilian striker Evanilson netted a 96th minute equaliser to snatch a point for Bournemouth against Aston Villa at Villa Park, and you can watch the full match highlights below.
Evanilson Snatches Late Point For Bournemouth
Looking to build on an excellent 2-0 win against Bologna in the Champions League in midweek, Aston Villa welcomed Bournemouth to Villa Park, who came into the tie fresh off the back of an impressive 2-0 win over Arsenal.
There was little to separate the two sides in the first period, but Amadou Onana had one of the better opportunities. The Belgian’s headed effort was denied superbly by Mark Travers, who was deputising for the absent Kepa.
The Villans thought they had their opener on the half hour mark after John McGinn curled an effort into the top left corner, however, the goal was ruled out by VAR as the ball had exited the field of play in the buildup.
Pau Torres went close around the hour mark with a thunderous effort from distance, but once again, Travers was equal to it and palmed the shot out for a Villa corner.
Villa’s relentless pressure finally paid off on the 76 minute mark, with Ross Barkley bundling home the opener from close range after Leon Bailey’s headed pass from Ian Maatsen’s cross.
Three points looked to have been all but secured for the hosts, but they were dealt a sickener in the 96th minute, as Evanilson glanced home a header from Marcus Tavernier’s free-kick to restore the parity and snatch a vital point on the road.

A stalemate means that Villa are now unbeaten in 11 straight matches across all competitions, and takes them up to third place in the Premier League table until at least Sunday evening. Up next, they host Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, before a trip to the English capital to take on Tottenham in the league.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, are out of the cup and therefore do not play in midweek, but they return to action next Saturday with a tough clash against Manchester City at the Vitality.
