West Ham vs Manchester United Preview, Prediction, Team News and Confirmed Lineups
Manchester United head to the English capital to take on West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday, and we’ve got the latest team news and confirmed lineups ahead of the clash, as well as a prediction in our preview.
West Ham vs Manchester United Preview
In an action-packed Super Sunday, West Ham welcome Manchester United to East London, with just three points separating the pair in the Premier League table heading into the clash.
The Hammers have endured a poor start to the campaign and have won just one of their last seven matches across all competitions. That victory came in the form of a 4-1 triumph against Ipswich prior to October’s international window, but they have since followed that up with a 4-1 defeat against Tottenham.
With a total of two league victories thus far in 2024/25, Julen Lopetegui’s side head into Gameweek 9 in 15th place on eight points, just five points clear of the relegation zone, while Manchester United occupy 12th place.
Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils have actually only suffered one defeat in their last nine games, a 3-0 loss to Tottenham, however five of the remaining aforementioned eight fixtures have ended in stalemates.
This includes all three of their Europa League league phase ties thus far, against Twente, Porto and, on Thursday, Jose Mourinho‘s Fenerbahce. Last weekend, they fought from behind to narrowly triumph 2-1 against Brentford.
West Ham and Manchester United’s last meeting ended in a 3-0 victory for the Red Devils at Old Trafford, but the Hammers have reigned supreme in each of their last two meetings at the London Stadium with 2-0 and 1-0 wins.
West Ham Team News
There’s just one injury concern for the hosts on Sunday, and that’s with summer signing Niclas Fullkrug, who misses out with a calf injury.
Mohammed Kudus, who scored in the defeat against Tottenham, is also unavailable. The Ghanaian is suspended for his side’s next three matches after being shown a red card in North London last weekend.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who joined the Hammers from Manchester United in the summer, starts at right-back in what will be his first appearance against his former side.
Manchester United Team News
As for United, their injury list remains an extensive one, with all of Kobbie Mainoo (thigh), Harry Maguire (calf), Leny Yoro (ankle), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Luke Shaw (calf) and Mason Mount (knock) missing out.
Meanwhile, Jonny Evans could return to the match day squad after missing the Fenerbahce tie with a knock, while Antony is also missing after being stretchered off the pitch in Istanbul.
Bruno Fernandes makes his return to Ten Hag’s lineup after missing out in midweek through suspension, supported in attack by Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.

West Ham vs Manchester United Prediction
The UK’s best football betting sites are favouring a win for the away side on Sunday, but we at SportsCasting are backing an entertaining score draw in the English capital.
Both sides have struggled for form in recent months, and they have also been very susceptible to conceding goals. West Ham have conceded three or more in three of their last five games, and the same can be said for Manchester United in two of their last five games.
As previously mentioned, the Red Devils have loved a draw in recent times too, playing out stalemates in five of their last seven matches across all competitions, and we expect the spoils to be shared once again here.
Prediction: West Ham 2-2 Manchester United
