UEFA Europa League Matchday 3 Roundup As Manchester United Draw Again – Tottenham And Rangers Register Crucial Wins
The UEL matchday 3 results provided mixed fortunes for Britain’s representatives across the continent on Thursday night.
A series of fiery fixtures saw a total of eight players receive their marching orders. Even Jose Mourinho was dismissed after his furious reaction towards the officials when Fenerbahce were denied a penalty.
Across the 16 matches, there wasn’t too much in the way of surprising scorelines. Two games were played on Wednesday night which generated another red card to make it nine in total for the week.
The new look UEL table is starting to take shape ahead of the halfway point of the league stage. As it stands, Serie A side Lazio lead the way.
Mirroring the UCL, Europe’s secondary competition will see the teams finishing in the top eight qualify for the knockout stages.
Those placing from 9th-24th will go head-to-head in a series of two-legged play-off matches. Naturally, the winners progress to the R16.
Teams finishing between 25th-36th are completely knocked out of all European competition for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

His joy was to be short-lived as he picked up two yellow cards in as many minutes. Bodo/Glimt made the hosts pay in second-half injury time as Villads Nielsen scored a 94th minute winner.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray got the better of Elfsborg in a seven-goal thriller in Turkey. Mauro Icardi, Baris Alper Yilmaz, Yunus Akgun and a Isak Pettersson own goal helped clinch a 4-3 win.
