Chelsea Boast Youngest Starting Eleven In Premier League As Enzo Maresca Backs The Youth
Chelsea have named the youngest starting eleven on average for the opening eight games of the Premier League so far.
Enzo Maresca has made a strong start to his time as Chelsea manager, picking up 14 points from the opening eight games and sitting four points off the top four.
The former Leicester manager was tipped to be the first Premier League manager to face the sack on UK betting sites, but has managed to secure good results with a young Chelsea team.
Chelsea have the youngest average age of any Premier League side in relation to starting eleven’s so far, having an average age of 23.2 years old.
Not only that, the Blues are the only team in history to play their first eight games without a single player over 27-years-old.
Tosin Adarabioyo has been their oldest player at 27 and Maresca named the youngest team in the league this season during a 6-2 away to Wolves.
In fact, this starting eleven against Wolves was the youngest in the Premier League by a fair distance, sitting at 23.4 years old – 1.2 years younger than the next youngest starting eleven.
Chelsea’s youngest player is Marc Guiu, who is just 18-years-old and their oldest outfield player is just 27-years-old and are the only team in the league to not have a single outfield player over 30.
