Mohammed Kudus charged

West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus has been charged by the FA following his red card in the London derby against Tottenham on Saturday.

Along with Kudus, both West Ham and Tottenham have also been sanctioned for the actions of their players following the incident.

Ghanaian winger Kudus was dismissed late on as West Ham fell to a 4-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 24-year-old opened the scoring for the Irons in the 18th minute before Spurs equalised through Dejan Kulusevski.

Yves Bissouma put Tottenham in front, with a third coming from an Alphonse Areola own-goal.

Son Heung-Min made it four on the hour mark to seal the comeback victory for the hosts, but that wasn’t the end of the drama.

Kudus was then sent off in the 86th minute after kicking Spurs defender Mickey van de Ven before pushing both van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr in the face.

Initially awarded a yellow card, Kudus was then shown a red after a VAR review.

Mohammed Kudus Charged With Violent Conduct

Referee Andrew Madley may have ended Kudus’ afternoon, but his punishment could be far from over.

The FA have charged him with violent conduct, which could carry a hefty ban.

In particular, the charge relates to Kudus’ improper behaviour ‘after the offence he was sent off for’ – referring to the pushes on van de Ven and Sarr.

On top of this, both clubs have also been sanctioned. Spurs and West Ham are charged with allowing their players to ‘behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way’ after Kudus was sent off.

Players from both teams crowded around Kudus and the referee after the incident.

For Kudus, he could face severe further punishment if found guilty. That’s on top of his three-game ban automatically applied for the straight red card he recieved.

The player, as well as both clubs, have until Thursday to respond to the charges from the FA.
