The Last 15 Title Winners Without The Premier League Big Six
Ever since the Premier League Big Six became the norm in England’s elite division in the 2010s, the vast majority of domestic titles have been won by said clubs.
However, who would benefit the most if those teams hadn’t consistently filled the higher echelons of the table? The results and findings are extremely interesting.
Which Clubs Make Up The Premier League Big Six?
For clarification, the teams that make up the Premier League Big Six are Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Formerly, the Big Four was a term frequently phrased in the 2000s. That was until City’s takeover and Spurs’ continued rise.
The Cityzens have gone on to dominate the English game since being purchased by the Abu Dhabi Group. Whereas the Lilywhites have continually rustled the feathers of those around them, regularly finishing in the top four.
When talk of the European Super League arose, rumours were rife that all of the Premier League Big Six would have their titles stripped. Owing to the fact they would all enter the fantasy idea of said competition.
If that were to happen, teams such as Bolton, Ipswich and Leeds would be awarded titles. Hard to imagine, isn’t it? Nonetheless, and for context, we will narrow it down to the last 15 seasons. Going back to 2009/10.
That was around the time the term of the Premier League Big Six was commonly phrased. Influenced by pundits, players, managers, TV personalities and news outlets alike.
How Many Titles Have The Premier League Big Six Won Since 2009/10?
Over the course of the last 15 seasons, the Premier League Big Six have won the title a staggering 14 times. The only anomaly in that time frame? Leicester City, of course.
The Foxes caused arguably the biggest upset in sport, not just in football, when they landed the greatest English domestic prize of all in 2016.
What made the incredible feat even more legendary is that manager Claudio Ranieri only came to the King Power in the summer of 2015. The Italian was only defeated three times all year, just to put the cherry on top of the cake.
In contrast, Arsenal failed to win a top-flight title in that time frame. Although, they have come close on occasions. North London rivals Tottenham have also threatened without delivering.
Therefore, the remaining four clubs of the Big Six have won the remainder. Chelsea have three wins to their name, Liverpool one, Manchester City eight and Manchester United two.
City’s dominance was made possible with the vast financial backing that has enabled them to attract the world’s best players. And arguably the world’s best manager in the shape of Pep Guardiola.

Aston Villa’s Premier League Big Six Threat
So far this season, the Premier League Big Six look like they may not have it all their own way towards the top of the table. Mainly due to the fact that Aston Villa continue to make their presence known.
The Villans currently occupy fourth spot in the English top-flight. Furthermore, they are impressing on their maiden UEFA Champions League campaign. Beating Bayern Munich along the way.
Since Unai Emery took over in 2022, the West Midlanders have been flying. In 2023/24, the Spaniard led the club to the semi-final of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Players such as Jhon Duran, Ollie Watkins, Emi Martinez, Amadou Onana and John McGinn continue to flourish. One day, perhaps they could mirror Leicester’s success?
As unlikely as they are to repeat that incredible feat, Villa are definitely on the up. Cracking into European places again is a real possibility this year.
That is why the best football betting sites in the UK price Emery’s side at 4/5 to finish inside the top six this season. It would take a brave person to argue against that happening again.
