Forest Vs Palace Match Preview

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a terrific start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign under the stewardship of  Nuno Espirito Santo. The Portuguese manager has only lost once in the top flight in seven outings.

Furthermore, the Tricky Tress are the only side to have beaten Arne Slot’s Liverpool in all competitions this year. Ahead of the visit of Crystal Palace, Santo will be quietly confident of grabbing all three points.

The former Wolves and Tottenham gaffer won’t be in the dugout to oversee proceedings at the City Ground on GW8, however. Santo will be serving the first match of a three-game ban after seeing red in a fiery encounter with Brighton.

Nonetheless, Forest will be looking to build on their credible 1-1 draw with Chelsea before the international break. Chris Wood scored his fourth of the season before Noni Madueke ensured a share of the spoils.

Something which has gone under the radar is Forest’s poor home form. They are on a seven-game winless streak on home turf and failure to beat Palace will equal an eight-game run set in 2012.

Crystal Palace

On the topic of seven-game winless runs, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has endured just that and will be starting to feel the pressure after the south Londoners poor start to the campaign.

What makes Glasner’s start to the 2024/25 season more surprising is how well the Austrian did at the back end of last year. He collected 19 points from a possible 21 and famously tonked Manchester United 4-0.

Palace haven’t been too far away from getting things right and securing their first win of the season. The likes of Eberechi Eze haven’t really got going yet and their ‘worst’ defeat was only 2-0.

However, ‘nearly’ doesn’t cut it at this level and Monday provides the perfect opportunity to put things right. Last time out, Glasner’s side was narrowly beaten at Selhurst Park by table-toppers Liverpool.

Ahead of tonight’s vital clash, the best football betting sites in the UK price Forest as 6/4 favourites with the draw at 12/5. Palace can be backed at 21/10.

Forest Vs Palace Team News

The latest Forest vs Palace team news confirms a number of players for both sides missing out. Suspensions are evident for the hosts as Nuno Espirito Santo, Morgan Gibbs-White and James Ward-Prowse will have to sit the game out.

The latter picked up a second booking against Chelsea for one of the most blatant handballs all of the season. However, Gibbs-White also has an ankle injury so his ban is perfectly suited as he continues his recovery.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels is expected to start although he pulled out of international duty with Belgium, but Ibrahim Sangare (thigh) and Danilo (ankle) are out for the foreseeable future.

For the Eagles, the quartet of Chadi Riad (knee), Chris Richards (thigh), Cheick Doucoure (toe) and Matheus Franca (groin) will all be missing.

However, England international Adam Wharton has been given the green light to feature after struggling with an adductor injury. The same applies for Daniel Munoz.

American goalkeeper Matt Turner is unable to play against his parent club after switching the City Ground for Selhurst Park on a temporary basis earlier this season. Eddie Nketiah is expected to lead the line up top.

Forest Vs Palace Predicted Lineups

Nottingham Forest XI (4-2-3-1): Sels; Aina, Murillo, Milenkovic, Moreno; Yates, Dominguez; Hudson-Odoi, Anderson, Elanga; Wood

Crystal Palace XI (3-4-3): Henderson; Guehi, Chalobah, Lacroix; Munoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Sarr, Nketiah, Eze

Forest Vs Palace Score Prediction

The Forest vs Palace stats point to a low-scoring draw and that trend is likely to continue on Monday. Five of the last seven meetings have ended in stalemate including the last three Premier League clashes.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s absence will be huge for the home side so expect a slightly cautious approach. Palace have lacked a regular finishing touch this year so defence could be their best form of attack.

Sportscasting predicts: Forest 1-1 Palace
