Arsenal Fans Fume As Chelsea’s Adarabioyo Gets Yellow Card For Near Identical Foul To William Saliba’s Sending Off

Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo’s yellow card has left Arsenal fans fuming after seeing William Saliba sent off for a near-identical foul yesterday.

Adarabioyo was booked early on as Liverpool hosted Chelsea at Anfield. With Liverpool looking to counter from deep, the defender hauled down Diogo Jota near the halfway line as the pair chased a long ball over the top.

But while Adarabioyo was given a caution, Arsenal’s William Saliba saw a straight red for a seemingly identical foul in yesterday’s defeat to Bournemouth.

With Chelsea scrambling, Adarabioyo cynically brought down Jota, and was the last defender between the Portuguese and a clear run on goal.

But despite what looked like the denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity, referee John Brooks kept the red card in his pocket and only booked the Chelsea man.

This has left many Arsenal fans incensed by the inconsistency of officiating on show.

Another fan posted: “Red card for Saliba and Yellow for Chelsea’s defender for the same foul, Premier League isn’t hiding corruption anymore.”

And a third disgruntled Gunners supporter added: “Red card for Arsenal yesterday but yellow card for Chelsea today. I’m tired of all of this officiating.”

Others Point Out Where Adarabioyo And Saliba Fouls Differ

The two fouls are certainly similar. Both are stopping a counter-attack, and both fouls were committed by the last defender.

But while the two incidents do look extremely similar at a glance, there are some who have defended the refereeing decisions.

One user argued: “For those attempting to claim that Tosin’s challenge in the Chelsea Vs Liverpool game was similar to Saliba’s against Bournemouth – I think you’ll find it started in Liverpool’s half, making it a tactical foul, hence the yellow card being shown.
