Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has agreed on a deal to become the new England manager with the announcement set for later this week.
That’s according to The Times, who have exclusively revealed the German will take over as the new Three Lions manager from interim boss Lee Carsley.
Tuchel will succeed Gareth Southgate in the role, who resigned from his position after England fell to defeat in the Euro 2024 final against Spain earlier this year.
The 51-year-old will become the first German-born manager of England in history and he steps back into coaching after leaving Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich at the end of last season.
INEOS will perhaps feel that one of their exit plans from Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager has now been foiled, with the club holding talks with Tuchel about the job over the summer.

According to the best football betting sites, Carsley was a short odds-on favourite to take the job permanently before England suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Greece in the UEFA Nations League last week.
Carsley then appeared to talk himself out of the job, stating he would like to return to the under-21 team which opened the door the FA to begin negotiations with the likes of Tuchel and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola, whose contract with the reigning Premier League champions expires at the end of the season, reportedly declined to give a firm answer on whether or not he would accept the role – leading the FA to move forward with Tuchel.
Tuchel’s arrival will mark England’s third foreign head coach following the late Sven-Goran Eriksson of Sweden and Fabio Capello of Russia.
England are set to enter the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup as one of the tournament favourites and Tuchel has an array of talent to look forward to working with such as Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden.
