British Champions Day Ascot 2024 Sees A Star-Studded Line-Up Heading To The Berkshire Track

All eyes will be on Ascot racecourse on Saturday 19th October as they’ll be staging their 2024 British Champions Day fixture that will feature the Qipco Champion Stakes and the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes.

Leading stayer Kyprios could get the afternoon off to a flyer as this Aidan O’Brien-trained 6 year-old will be trying to win the Champions Long Distance Cup (1:20pm) for the first time – he’ll face last year’s winner Trawlerman, who beat him by a neck 12 months ago.

The speedsters take to the stage next in the Champions Sprint Stakes (1:55pm) where Sprint Cup winner Montassib is one of the fancies with the best betting sites in the UK.

At 2:35pm the fast-improving Kalpana puts her growing reputation on the line in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes, while top grey Charyn, who will be heading to stud after this season, is looking for his fourth Group One win in the QEII Stakes at 3:15pm.

The most valuable race on the afternoon is the Qipco Champion Stakes (3:55pm) with £737,230 on offer to the winner – a race that will see the unbeaten Economics back on the track after his gutsy Irish Champion Stakes win.

Ascot Champions Day 2024 ends with the Balmoral Handicap (4:35pm), in what looks another very competitive renewal – it’s a race trainer David O’Meara has a fine record in, with three wins since 2017.
