Harry Maguire Injury Update

Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire has confirmed that he will spend ‘a few weeks’ on the sidelines after picking up an injury against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Harry Maguire Ruled Out For ‘A Few Weeks’ Through Injury

Manchester United’s injury concerns have gone from bad to worse, with Harry Maguire now confirming that he is set for ‘a few weeks’ on the sidelines after being forced off in the goalless draw against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Maguire was named in the Red Devils lineup alongside Jonny Evans after scoring the leveller against Porto in the Europa League in midweek, however he lasted just 45 minutes before coming off and was reportedly seen departing Villa Park in a protective boot.

The 31-year-old, who was omitted from Lee Carsley’s England squad for October’s fixtures against Greece and Finland, confirmed that he faces a period in the treatment room on his Instagram story.

He wrote: “Frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sidelines for me but I’ll come back stronger.”

Maguire joins Leny Yoro (foot), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Luke Shaw (calf), Mason Mount (head), Alejandro Garnacho (knee) and Kobbie Mainoo (thigh) on United’s injury list heading into the international window.

Noussair Mazraoui is another injury concern for Erik ten Hag, as the right-back was also forced off against Villa and has subsequently withdrawn from Morocco’s squad ahead of their double-header against the Central African Republic.

What Next For Manchester United?

Ten Hag and his side will be desperate for Maguire, as well as the remaining injured personnel, to return to action swiftly as they look to bring an end to their five-game winless run upon returning from the international window.

Here are their fixtures for the remainder of October:

  • 19 October – Brentford (H) – Premier League
  • 24 October – Fenerbahce (A) – Europa League
  • 27 October – West Ham (A) – Premier League
  • 30 October – Leicester (H) – Carabao Cup
