Nick Kyrgios aimed another dig at world No. 1 Jannik Sinner on Monday, stating that he only plays doubles alongside ‘clean players’ following the Italian’s recent doping saga.

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has, once again, spoken out against world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, stating that he only plays ‘with clean players’ when a fan asked him to play doubles alongside the Italian.

Sinner was under investigation due to an alleged doping scandal earlier in the year, and in August, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced that the 23-year-old was ruled to have ‘bore no fault or negligence’ for two anti-doping violations.

Following confirmation that Sinner had escaped a ban due to the ruling, injured Kyrgios was quick to respond and labelled the decision as ‘ridiculous’. He also called for the 2024 US Open winner to be banned from the sport for two years.

Since then, Kyrgios has consistently spoken out against Sinner and welcomed the World Anti-Doping Association’s (WADA) decision to appeal the initial ruling.

In response to WADA confiriming that they had lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sport last month, Kyrgios wrote on Instagram: “Hahaha maybe not so innocent after all eh?” He also added a series of laughs in the comments section and said: “God I hope the people running this thing don’t care that he is number 1 and has money.”

His latest jibe towards Sinner also came via Instagram, this time during a question and answer session with his fans.

One supporter asked if Kyrgios would play doubles with the two-time Grand Slam winner, and the Aussie made his feelings abundantly clear.

“I only play with CLEAN players,” he wrote with a sleeping emoji at the end of his caption in response.

Kyrgios was also asked if he would play doubles with Novak Djokovic, to which he replied: “Kokk will get first priority but I’m down.”

‘Kokk’, of course, is in reference to his childhood friend Thanasi Kokkinakis, with whom he won the Australian Open men’s doubles title back in 2022.

While Sinner awaits the results of WADA’s appeal, he remains in action at the Shanghai Masters following his defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in the China Open final last week.

At the time of writing, the Italian is through to the third round, having overcome Japan’s Taro Daniel and Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the first and second rounds.
