FPL Pras provides his tips for FPL GW7, including his ‘head’ and ‘heart’ picks for the weekend’s games and who to captain.

“Welcome to SportsCasting! I’m Pras, and this week, we’re diving into my FPL Gameweek 7 tips.

With a track record of four top 10k finishes and two top 5k finishes over the past 12 seasons, I’ve consistently performed well in FPL. My average seasonal rank in the last seven seasons has been around 21k.

Each week, I’ll offer my insights on the captaincy choice and two picks per position: a safe and sensible option (head) and a riskier, maverick one (heart). This approach gives you flexibility to either play it safe or take a chance.”

Pras’ FPL GW7 Tips

Captaincy

  • Head: Erling Haaland might have blanked last week, but don’t count him out. Back at home, he’s a force to be reckoned with. Fulham have had a good start to the season, but I still think there are 2-3 goals here for Man City, and Haaland is likely to be involved in at least one of them.
  • Heart: The best differential captain for GW7 is Bukayo Saka, in my opinion. A lot of people have created a perception that Arsenal are defence-first, and struggle in attack without their captain, Martin Ødegaard. But we are judging them on the back of crucial away games to Tottenham and Man City, and a Leicester game where they created plenty and were good value for the four goals they scored. A home game against strugglers Southampton should see another 3+ goals.

Defender

  • Head: First week that Trent Alexander-Arnold makes way in this section. While he is still a good pick, I am going with Gabriel this week. He has two goals in his last three Premier League games, proving that he has great potential at both ends of the pitch. Besides, Arsenal have the shortest odds for a clean sheet this weekend.
  • Heart: Rico Lewis makes his “heart pick” debut. With Rodri out for the season, he’ll likely see more playing time in his inverting role. At just £4.7m, and with a fantastic run of fixtures ahead, I think he will be in most teams very soon. He won’t start every game, but the upside is huge when he does, making him a great value pick.

Midfielder

  • Head: My sensible pick this week is Bryan Mbuemo, who has become the talisman for Brentford in the absence of Ivan Toney. With his goal-scoring abilities, set-piece expertise, and penalty-taking duties, he’s a strong pick against a Wolves team that sit bottom of the Premier League table.
  • Heart: Brennan Johnson is in excellent form, having scored five goals in his last five games across all competitions. His place in the starting lineup seems secure now that Maddison and Kulusevski are playing centrally. We saw how vulnerable Brighton were last week against Chelsea without defender Jan Paul van Hecke. Could Spurs cause similar problems?

Forwards

  • Head: See the captaincy section on Haaland above.
  • Heart: Dominic Solanke has been in fine form, but this week I am going for Kai Havertz. The German loves playing at the Emirates Stadium, having scored in each of his last six games at home. With the shortest odds to score among all Premier League players this weekend, he’s a strong bet to continue his streak.
