Mohamed Salah could become the first Liverpool player to score in five consecutive home games in the Champions League as Liverpool play host to Bologna.

The Egyptian is one goal away from making history in a Liverpool shirt, as finding the back of the net against Bologna at Anfield would make Salah the first player to score in five consecutive home games in the Champions League.

Only Steven Gerrard has also scored in four consecutive Champions League matches at Anfield, doing so during the 2007/08 season.

Scoring 41 goals in Europe’s top competition for Liverpool, Salah is the clubs’ record goalscorer in the Champions League.

Salah has made a strong start to the 2024/25 campaign already, contributing to nine goals in eight games (all competitions).

This puts him in a good position to break the record for most goals scored in consecutive home matches in the Champions League.

Liverpool’s last home game in the UCL came in February 2023, as Salah contributed with a goal and assist in a 5-2 defeat against Real Madrid.

Prior to that, Salah scored in each of Liverpool’s three home matches in the 2021/22 group stage – finding the net against Napoli, Rangers and Ajax.

The Reds missed out on the 2023/24 Champions League, after finishing out of the top four in the season prior and reached the Europa League quarter final.

Salah already holds a similar record for Liverpool, scoring in nine consecutive matches at Anfield in all competitions and this would extend his place as the Reds’ greatest ever talisman.

Bologna kept a clean sheet in their opening Champions League match, drawing 0-0 with Shakhtar Donetsk but the Italian side have conceded nine goals in six Serie A matches.

Liverpool are also on strong goal scoring form, scoring 20 goals in eight matches across all competitions under Arne Slot.
