NFL Draft
First held in 1936 with nine teams picking 81 players over nine rounds, the NFL Draft looks much different today.
Easily the highlight of the offseason, the NFL Draft has become an event in itself and has taken place in bigger and bigger venues as time has gone on to accommodate more fans.
The NFL Draft now consists of seven rounds, and win-loss records from the previous season determine the selection order. The team with the worst record is positioned first in each round, while the Super Bowl champion is positioned 32nd.
Of course, teams can choose to trade their respective picks, which happens often. Some franchises are also awarded compensatory picks, given to teams that lost more (or better) free agents than they acquired. Those picks are positioned from Round 3 to Round 7.
Aaron Rodgers has ruled the Packers for more than a decade, but Matt LaFleur wrestled away his power by drafting Jordan Love.
Leonard Fournette became the latest high pick in the 2017 NFL draft to be denied a fifth-year option by his team.
Broc Rutter didn’t get selected in the 2020 NFL draft, but the 49ers gave the record-setting D-III quarterback a $279 signing bonus.
Joe Staley made $84 million while spending his entire NFL career with the San Francsico 49ers before announcing his retirement Saturday.
Undrafted free agents have shockingly low salaries compared to NFL draft picks. Players like Doug Baldwin were still able to make millions.
Khalil Mack will be teaming up with his brother in the NFL, as the Bears just signed LeDarius Mack as an undrafted free agent.
Ben Bartch packed on serious weight by drinking the nastiest protein shake. The Jaguars draft pick will make $3.4 million on his rookie deal.
Jordan Love would be the rare NFL rookie quarterback if he doesn’t start at least once this fall for the Green Bay Packers.
Joe Burrow will do anything to win, even if it means passing out in the locker room after a 7-overtime college game.
Jalen Hurts has all the tools to develop into a star with the Eagles and turn Carson Wentz into a $128 million backup quarterback.
