Carmelo Anthony
After making a name for himself at Syracuse University, Carmelo Anthony entered the 2003 NBA draft. While a high school phenom named LeBron James stole most of the hype that evening, Melo still went on to make his share of headlines.
The forward joined the Denver Nuggets as the third overall pick and quickly established himself as a star. After seven full seasons in the Mile High City, though, he headed east and joined the New York Knicks. While he brought some much-needed star power to the Garden, Anthony couldn’t get the franchise over the hump and eventually left town. He then suited up for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trail Blazers before joining the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Although Melo hasn’t lifted the Larry O’Brien Trophy, he’s still found plenty of success during his time on the hardwood. The forward won an NCAA title at Syracuse, has appeared in 10 NBA All-Star Games, took home the 2013 scoring crown, and was named to the league’s 75th Anniversary Team.
