Pacers’ Pascal Siakam to Sign Four-Year, $189.5M Contract

Indiana Pacers All-Star forward Pascal Siakam is expected to sign a four-year, $189.5 million max contract to remain with the Eastern Conference contender, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Siakam, 30, plans to sign the deal once the league’s free agency moratorium ends on July 6, per Wojnarowski. Because of the NBA’s new early contact rules for teams to begin negotiating extensions and free agent deals, Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard and general manager Chad Buchanan were allowed to present the max offer to Siakam and his agents Todd Ramasar and Jaafar Choufani of Life Sports Agency.

In mid-January, the Pacers traded Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, and three future first-round draft picks to the Toronto Raptors for Siakam. The blockbuster deal played a significant role in the franchise’s run to the Eastern Conference finals for the time in a decade.

The Pacers pursued Siakam in the final year of his Raptors contract, pairing him with All-NBA guard Tyrese Haliburton. Indiana will now have Haliburton and Siakam under contract through 2028 and 2029, respectively.

Siakam became the third player to average 35 points, 10 rebounds in each of his first two playoff games

Siakam averaged 21.3 points on 55% shooting and 39% 3-point shooting in 41 regular-season games upon arriving in Indiana. The 6-foot-8 wing became the third player to average 35 points and 10 rebounds in each of his first two playoff games, joining Elgin Baylor (1961) and Wilt Chamberlain (1967).

Additionally, Siakam scored 367 points in the 2024 playoffs, the most for a Pacers player since Paul George in 2014. During Indiana’s 125-108 Game 2 win over the Milwaukee Bucks in the first-round series, Siakam became the sixth player in NBA history to record at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists with zero turnovers in a playoff game.

According to the Basketball-Reference database, Siakam joined Jayson Tatum (51-13-5-0 on May 14, 2023), Jamal Murray (50-11-7-0 on Aug. 23, 2020), LeBron James (38-12-6-0 on May 12, 2015), Shaquille O’Neal (41-11-7-0 on May 20, 2000), and Larry Bird (36-10-5-0 on May 6, 1986).
