World Series Arrests Total 12 After Crowd Chaos Breaks Out in Los Angeles

The hysteria of winning a first MLB World Series in four years was too much for a handful of fans, who took to the streets of Los Angeles in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Reports of objects being thrown at police, local businesses being burglarized and fireworks being set off underlined an unruly evening on the west coast, as the Dodgers won their eight World Series title almost 3,000 miles way in New York.

Vandalism reached breaking point as a Metropolitan Transit Authority bus was set ablaze, with the video below showing the dramatic footage.

“Metro is disappointed and angered by the senseless act of vandalism on one of our buses following the Dodgers World Series Win earlier this evening,” the transportation agency said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.

According to Los Angeles police spokesperson Officer Drake Madison, a total of 12 World Series arrests were made across a night of unrest, with charges made for commercial burglary, failing to disperse and stolen property.

Particularly in the Echo Park and downtown area, violent and hostile crowds that failed to disperse caused the most trouble, with police turning to non-lethal munitions in order to break up the street takeovers.

This is, of course, not the first time the city has been turned into ground zero for wild celebrations. In 2020, The Lakers won the NBA title which sparked destructive and damaging crowds into life, leading to the arrests of over 70 people.

Police will be scrambling to put together an effective itinerary for the Dodgers’ World Series victory parade, which is set to meander through the city and finish at the Dodgers Stadium on Friday.
