Who Is The Next NFL QB To Be Benched? Daniel Jones Has The Best Odds To Lose His Starting Job
Thanks mostly to the slew of injuries early in the year, 43 different quarterbacks have started a game during the first half of the 2024 NFL season. But some of the variation comes from pass throwers being benched, and another struggling player suffered that fate on Tuesday. The Indianapolis Colts announced after their Week 8 loss that they’d be making a change, benching second-year QB Anthony Richardson in favor of Joe Flacco, who has already started two games this year due to injuries.
Who Is The Favorite To Be Next NFL QB To Be Benched?
Who might be the next victim? Here are the odds for which NFL quarterback will be benched next:
- Daniel Jones (Giants): +150 (40.00%)
- Bryce Young (Panthers): +200 (33.33%)
- Gardner Minshew (Raiders): +200 (33.33%)
- Will Levis (Titans): +400 (20%)
- Dak Prescott (Cowboys): +1200 (7.69%)
Giants fans have been calling for the benching of Daniel Jones for what feels like forever. He has been the elected starter since his rookie year in 2019, and has yet to put together a truly impressive season during his first five in the league. The 2024 campaign hasn’t started off well, either, with Jones coming in as the 5th-worst QB in terms of passer rating, and has famously failed to throw a single touchdown in the Giants home stadium since January 1st 2023.
With New York floundering with a record 2-6, it may be time for the team to finally pull the plug. Jones is listed as the favorite at +150 to be the next NFL quarterback to be benched, which would open the door for Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.
Minshew, Levis Included As Benching Possibilities
Bryce Young and Gardner Minshew are next on the list at +200. Young has already been benched, and only got the start in Week 8 due to Andy Dalton suffering an injured thumb in a car accident. But there are some who wonder if Young did enough in the Panthers’ loss to the Broncos on Sunday, and the starting QB situation could be a fluid one in Carolina moving forward.
Anthony Richardson is 22. Benched.
Bryce Young is 23. Benched.
Trey Lance is 24. Benched.
Justin Fields is 25. Benched.
Will Levis is 25. Benched.

Minshew was also benched already, but got his job back when his replacement was placed on the IR. But the Raiders signed Desmond Ridder who is now waiting in the wings, and would likely be the one that Las Vegas turns to should they go away from Minshew again.
Will Levis hasn’t played in either of the last two games for the Titans, but the missed time is due to an injury. There will be plenty of Titans fans who would like to stick with Mason Rudolph going forward in what is turning into a lost season, as Levis has been one of the worst QBs statistically thus far. His benching is listed as a +400 probability.
