Cooper Flagg dunks a ball.

Get to know the name Cooper Flagg, one of the best basketball prospects in the country. The 17-year-old stole the show in Monday’s Team USA scrimmage.

Cooper Flagg Shines In Team USA Scrimmage

Team USA is currently training in Las Vegas for the 2024 Paris Olympics. On Monday, Team USA scrimmaged a select team of young prospects.

Flagg was one of the standout players on the select team.

The Duke commit put on a show, hitting several contested 3-pointers and finishing a tough putback at the rim. The 6’8″ forward is perfect for today’s NBA, which relies on versatility, shot creation, and 3-pointers.

“He’s a special young man,” Orlando Magic coach Jamahl Mosley, who coached the select team, said via NBA.com. “His talent level, his basketball IQ, his level of toughness, not afraid of those moments, protect the rim, make the right play, make the right read. He had all that.”

Cooper Flagg Receives High Praise From NBA Stars

While scouts have been enamored with Flagg for years, NBA players are beginning to take notice. Kevin Durant, who will play for Team USA at the Paris Olympics, loved what he saw out of Flagg on Monday.

“He’s 17 years old, coming in here playing like a vet almost,” Durant told reporters (via Ben Golliver) on Tuesday. “No emotion. Just going out there and doing his job. That’s a good sign.”

Flagg will attend Duke this fall and play for third-year coach Jon Schreyer. The Blue Devils advanced to the Elite Eight in 2024 before falling to NC State.

Flagg is widely expected to be the number one overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
