In Week 6 of the 2024 NFL season, the favorites came out on top. That made it a profitable week for gamblers across the country. However, U.S. sportsbooks took a hit and made Week 6 unfavorable for operators. The Steelers, Lions, Falcons, Buccaneers, Packers, and Texans all covered the spread.

Justin Fields and the Steelers were on the road in Week 6 to face the Raiders. After back-to-back losses, Pittsburgh was able to get back on track vs. Las Vegas. Fields had 145 yards passing and added 11 rushes for 59 yards and two rushing touchdowns to beat the Raiders 32-13 and cover the -3 spread. Bijan Robinson and the Falcons were on the road in Week 6 for a matchup vs. the Panthers.

Atlanta has won three straight games and has a 4-2 record in 2024. On Sunday vs. Carolina, Robinson carried the ball 15 times for 95 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also had three catches on five targets for 10 yards. The Falcons covered their spread of -6. Finally, Jordan Love and the Packers were at home in Week 6 to face the Cardinals. Love had 258 passing yards and four touchdowns vs. Arizona. Romeo Doubs had three catches at two touchdowns in Week 6. The Packers covered their spread of -5.5.

The public heavily favored the Lions on Sunday vs. the Cowboys

On Sunday, the Lions were on the road to face the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit is one of the top teams in the NFC and came into the game favored -3. Dallas is dealing with several injuries on defense but that is no excuse for a 47-9 loss to Detroit at home. Jared Goff diced the Cowboys for 315 passing yards and three touchdowns. David Montgomery added 12 rushes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Jahmyr Gibbs also carried the ball 12 times and had 63 rushing yards.

BetMGM revealed that 81% of point-spread bets and 85% of money-line bets were on the Lions in Week 6. That is just one example of a sportsbook taking a hit in Week 6. Not to mention that every single favorite won last week.

There were no upsets to be had in Week 6

After the 4:00 p.m. EST window of games was over, sportsbooks only had two more games to rely on. The Cincinnati Bengals were favored on the road vs. the Giants on Sunday night and the Bills were favored on the road on Monday vs. the Jets. Both favorites won in Week 6 and sportsbooks around the country took major losses. Sunday afternoon was especially ugly for sportsbooks as all four favorites won and all four overs hit. Sportsbooks will look to bounce back in Week 7.
