Things got awkward on NBA TV on Friday night. But there are apparently no real problems between Sam Mitchell and Chris Miles, at least according to the odd video that they put released on social media on Saturday.

Awkward Moment On NBA TV Involving Sam Mitchell

During their broadcast highlighting the day’s preseason action, Miles made a joke about salaries that obviously rubbed Mitchell the wrong way. The former coach and player then went on a minute-long tirade, taking apparent jabs at his co-host, talking about personal things like his residences and Miles’ financial situation as the awkward situation continued to play out.

Mitchell even went as far as revealing Miles’ address in another segment, which was later revealed to be a false address.

The situation sent social media into a frenzy. It was speculated (and somewhat obvious from the clip) that there had been some prior issues between the two, and that Friday night was not an isolated incident. Mitchell even said, “You gotta stop messing with me on national TV”.

Mitchell, Miles Attempt To Squash The Beef With Social Media Video

Now, according to both parties, it was all just some kind of joke. A video was posted to social media on Saturday that featured Miles on the doorstep of Mitchell’s home. The two talk about how there is no beef between them, and are all smiles as they attempt to explain the awkward situation.

The internet wasn’t buying it. Many were quick to point out that the attempt to clean up the situation only made things look even more awkward, and some suggested that the two were forced to make the video for PR reasons. One person even joked that Adam Silver was behind the camera.

The bizarre situation will certainly be one to monitor, at least from an entertainment standpoint. The NBA season is a long one, and this incident happened during preseason action. While it is unclear whether the NBA TV network intends on keeping the two together as co-host, it will undoubtedly make for an interesting subplot that will garner a few eyeballs.

The most recent coaching gig for Sam Mitchell was with the University of Memphis as an assistant back in 2019. His last NBA stop was with the Timberwolves in 2015-16, when he became the interim head coach.
