Octoplay Secures Provisional Michigan License for Launch

Octoplay, the Malta-based iGaming provider, has officially begun its U.S. expansion phase after obtaining a provisional license to launch in Michigan. The online casino platform launched in the U.K. in 2023 after receiving a license from the U.K. Gambling Commission (UKGC).

Octoplay has rapidly expanded its presence in Italy, Slovakia, Denmark, and Ontario over the past few months

Octoplay’s Michigan license marks the beginning of the company’s highly anticipated entry into the U.S. market. The iGaming provider also services territories like Denmark, Italy, Ontario, and Slovakia.

Gavin Hamilton, Chairman at Octoplay, said in the news release: “Obtaining the Michigan provisional license marks the beginning of our entry into the United States, a key market for our future growth. We look forward to bringing our premium products and games to American players, starting in Michigan.

“While we’ve seen great success in European markets recently, our entry into the U.S. represents a new chapter for Octoplay. We’re committed to establishing a strong presence in the American iGaming landscape, leveraging our experience in regulated markets to deliver exceptional gaming experiences to U.S. players and operators.”

Octoplay’s expansion into new markets allows more operators to access its popular slot games. This provisional license will not only extend Octoplay’s reach but also enable Michigan operators to offer the high-quality content their players seek.

Malta-based iGaming provider offers over 50 slot titles

Founded in October 2022, Octoplay offers more than 50 slot titles, including 12 Treasures: Aztec Riches, Disco Dive, Lucky Seven Spin, Pearly Shores, and Sugar Splash, delivered via its Remote Gaming Server (RGS) platform.

Additionally, Octoplay’s games are available through select U.S. sweepstakes casinos. In order to expand into any of the other six iGaming states — Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia — Octoplay must first obtain licenses from the states regulators.

While Octoplay has yet to release details on the Michigan online casinos it will partner with, existing partner PokerStars Casino is live in the Great Lakes State.

With the launch of Caesars Entertainment’s Horseshoe Online Casino on Oct. 7, Michigan now offers 16 online casinos for gamblers.
