Nick Saban has $800,000 waiting for him if Alabama wins the National Championship.

Nick Saban will be going for his eighth career NCAA title when his Alabama Crimson Tide face off against the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday night.

The legendary head coach doesn’t need any extra motivation to add yet another championship ring to his impressive collection, but an $800,000 bonus check sure doesn’t hurt.

This won’t come as a surprise to anyone, but Saban is getting paid more money than any other coach in college football this season. According to USA Today, the 70-year-old banked a whopping $9,753,221 in 2021, which beat out former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron for the top spot by more than $700,000.

And Saban won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Prior to the 2021 season, Saban agreed to a contract extension with Alabama that will keep him in Tuscaloosa through the 2028 season. He will earn an average of $10.6 million per year for the remainder of the deal.

“Terry and I are pleased and happy to sign another contract extension that will keep us in Tuscaloosa through the end of our career,” Saban said at the time, per RollTide.com. “Our family calls Tuscaloosa and the state of Alabama home, it’s a place where our roots now run deep. This agreement gives us the chance to continue to impact the lives of the young men and their families who choose to play football and get an education at Alabama.”

Saban can add $800,000 to his bank account with a National Championship win

Saban is already the highest-paid coach in college football this year at $9.75 million, but he’s going to add a nice chunk to that sum whether Alabama wins or loses on Monday night.

According to The Tuscaloosa News, Saban’s current contract includes multiple incentives based on how Alabama finishes the year. He’s already earned a $125,000 bonus for winning the SEC Championship, and he’ll earn another $600,000 if the Crimson Tide lose to the Bulldogs on Monday night. But if Alabama prevails for its second straight title, Saban will cash in on an $800,000 bonus.

Not too shabby.

Can Alabama beat Georgia twice in one season?

Behind 461 yards of offense and four total touchdowns from sophomore quarterback Bryce Young, Alabama exposed Georgia’s vaunted defense and cruised to a 41-24 victory in the SEC Championship. But Las Vegas still believes Georgia is the better team one month later.

The Bulldogs are holding as three-point favorites over the Crimson Tide for the highly anticipated rematch in the 2022 CFP National Championship.

It might be odd to see Georgia as a favorite on Monday night after losing to Alabama by 17 points last month, but that just shows oddsmakers still consider the Bulldogs to be the better team. Young needs to have another magical performance if he wants to solve this elite defense a second time and give Saban his eighth NCAA title.

Oh, and $800,000, of course.
