Christian McCaffrey Out For Second Consecutive Week

49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is out for the second consecutive week due to a calf injury and Achilles tendonitis.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said McCaffrey’s injury flared up on Thursday. The team is considering placing McCaffrey on IR, which means the star running back would miss at least four more games.

Jordan Mason will start for McCaffrey.

Other notable players out for Week 2 include Tampa Bay Buccanneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr (foot), Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (ankle), Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison (ankle), and Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder).
