The NFL trade deadline is November 5th but trades have occurred already.

WRs Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, and RB Cam Akers have been traded.

Adams remains an elite WR, Cooper has been very productive for years, and Akers adds depth to the running back room.

Davante Adams is reuniting with his old quarterback in New York, and he will link back up with Aaron Rodgers on the Jets.

Amari Cooper gets traded from the Cleveland Browns to a Super Bowl contender in the Buffalo Bills to become their new number-one receiving option.

Cam Akers will return to a former team and be a depth piece for the Minnesota Vikings’ running back room.

Below, we will discuss each move and how this will impact each team.

NFL Trades: Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, & Cam Akers Get Traded

Despite the NFL trade deadline not occurring until November 5th, trades have already occurred.

Below, we will take a look at the trades involving Adams, Cooper, and Akers.

Davante Adams, New York Jets

  • New York Jets get: WR Davante Adams
  • Las Vegas Raiders get: 2025 conditional third-round pick
  • Trade date: Oct. 15

Davante Adams will reunite with Aaron Rodgers as he has been traded to the New York Jets.

Adams is 31 years old and is not the elite WR he once was but he remains a very good WR.

He is an excellent route runner and becomes the team’s number two WR behind Garrett Wilson.

Rodgers and Wilson have not seen the chemistry that Rodgers had with Adams.

At this stage, Adams is probably a top-15 or top-20 wide receiver. He’s also worth more to the Jets than any other team, however.

The Jets did not overpay for Adams. A third-round pick that can become a second-rounder only in the event things go very well. That being Adams would have to be an All-Pro or active for the AFC title game or Super Bowl. The Raiders are not eating any of his salary, so the Jets will pay a prorated portion of the roughly $17 million in cash he was due this year.

Adams to the Jets is significant for both sides and New York hopes this helps them make a playoff push.

Amari Cooper, Buffalo Bills

  • Buffalo Bills get: WR Amari Cooper, 2025 sixth-round pick
  • Cleveland Browns get: 2025 third-round pick, 2026 seventh-round pick
  • Trade date: Oct. 15

Buffalo needed a true number one WR and they got one. Amari Cooper remains a very good WR and instantly becomes the team’s number one target. This will help Keon Coleman improve as he learns behind Cooper.

Cooper’s drop in production is not his fault as DeShaun Watson has played like the worst starting QB in the league.

He now goes to Buffalo and gets Josh Allen throwing him the ball. Allen is playing at an elite level and has Buffalo at a 4-2 record.

For Buffalo to be a serious Super Bowl contender, this is the exact move the team needed.

Adding Cooper significantly improves the offense and makes the Bills an even bigger threat in the AFC.

Cam Akers, Minnesota Vikings

  • Minnesota Vikings get: RB Cam Akers, 2026 conditional seventh-round pick
  • Houston Texans get: 2025 conditional sixth-round pick
  • Trade date: Oct. 15

Roughly 12 months after acquiring Cam Akers in the middle of the 2023 season, the Vikings bring back Akers via a trade.

This move comes as Aaron Jones is dealing with a right hip injury and is a little banged up. Akers adds depth behind Jones and Ty Chandler.

Ultimately, this is a conditional sixth-seventh future pick swap, so the price is as small as it gets.

The cost is low for Minnesota but it does not really move the needle or improve the team as much as the Bills getting Cooper and the Jets getting Adams.
