It was only one week of football, but some teams were so wretched that it made an impact in the odds to secure the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft.

The New York Giants are the new favorites for that ignominious honor after a 28-6 loss to the Vikings in their opener.

The Panthers look like they could be the worst team in the NFL, and may have lost star defensive lineman Derrick Brown for the season, but they have an easier schedule than their NFC East counterparts, which is why they are slightly behind for the No. 1 pick.

The Cardinals had the 13th-best offense in Week 1, but their defense finished last, which is a continuation of 2023, when their defense was the worst in the NFL.
